Mahnomen School District

Mahnomen Public School District is seeking applications for the following positions. Positions are open until filled. 

Special Education Teacher: (Full-time) Applicants must have or be eligible for MN teaching license in Special Education (multiple areas including EBD and SLD preferred) or able to receive a variance license. 

Substitute Teachers: (Part-time) Seeking on call substitute teachers. Candidates must have a valid Minnesota teaching license or a short call sub license. Compensation $165/day regular education or $200/day special education assignment.

Substitute Support Staff: (Part-time) Seeking on call substitute paraprofessionals and kitchen staff. Paraprofessional candidates must have either the Paraprofessional Certification or a minimum of 60 hours of college credit, or a 2-year college degree. 

Substitute Bus Drivers: (Part-time) Bus Drivers must have a valid school bus license endorsement. Compensation $28.75/hour.

Cleaner-Custodians (Full-time 12-months). Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. Mahnomen Public School District is seeking Cleaner–Custodians, with a primary need for afternoon/evening shifts. Applicants must have good attendance, be personable and able to work well with school staff. Necessary skills include: knowledgeable about simple mechanical and cleaning equipment, including buffers, lifts, carpet cleaners and floor machines. Integral characteristics of this position include: punctuality, good attendance and teamwork.  Wages starting at $22.00/hr plus benefits. All applicants must pass a favorable criminal background check. Position open until filled. 

ISD #432 (Mahnomen Public School) is currently the following teacher applicants with a valid Minnesota teaching license for the 2026-27 School Year. Preference for teachers licensed in multiple areas.

Dean of Students – Elementary
Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking a Dean of Students to support a positive, safe elementary environment. This role partners with the principal to lead student behavior, attendance, and school climate.
Qualifications: MN teaching license; 3–5 years of experience preferred; strong leadership and communication skills.

Activities Director

Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking an Activities Director for the 2026–27 school year. This role provides leadership and oversight of the district’s activities and athletics programs, supporting student engagement, eligibility, scheduling, and program operations. Teaching assignment may be combined with this role, depending on licensure. 

Communications / English Language Arts (7–12) Teachers
Mahnomen Public Schools (ISD #432) is seeking a Communications/English Language Arts teacher for the 2026–27 school year. Minnesota licensure (7–12) required. Preference for candidates licensed in multiple areas.

Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teachers
Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking CTE teachers across multiple content areas for the 2026–27 school year. We are open to a range of backgrounds and licensure areas, including (but not limited to):

  • Business, Marketing & Entrepreneurship

  • Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS)

  • Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources

  • Trades/Industrial (Construction, Manufacturing, Automotive, Transportation)

  • Communications & Technology

  • Medical/Health Careers

Special Education (SPED) Teachers
Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking a full-time Special Education teacher for the 2026–27 school year. Minnesota licensure required (or ability to obtain). Preference for candidates with experience or licensure in multiple areas (e.g., EBD, SLD, Early Childhood).

Physical Education / Health Teachers (K–12)
Mahnomen Public Schools is seeking a full-time Physical Education/Health teacher. Minnesota licensure required (or ability to obtain). Experience or interest in aquatics, swimming instruction, or water safety is a plus, but not required.

Elementary Teacher
Provides high-quality, standards-based instruction for elementary students, supports academic growth, social-emotional development, and positive classroom culture in partnership with families and colleagues.

Phy-Ed (Swimming) Teacher: (Full-time)
Applicants must have or be eligible for MN teaching license in K-12 Physical Education including Water Safety and Swimming Instruction or able to receive a variance license. 

Certified Pool Maintenance Operator: (Part or Full-time depending on qualifications)
Applicants must have or be eligible for MN Pool Operator Certification. Preference additional qualifications in: Water Safety Instruction, Lifeguard and First Aid.

Lifeguard/Pool Assistant: (Full-time during school year)
Minimum requirement include High School Diploma or equivalent. Applicants need to be certified in Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Preference additional qualifications in: Certified Pool Operator and First Aid.

Special Education Paraprofessionals: (Full-time during school year) Applicants need to be able to meet Minnesota Paraprofessional requirements by having either (1) an associate or higher degree or (2) by having successfully completed a minimum of 60 hours (credits) of instruction from an institute of higher learning or (3) passing the Para-Pro Test, which may be taken at the Mahnomen School. Compensation $22/hour.


Mahnomen Schools offers an extremely competitive salary schedule and benefits package and is located in Northwest MN 35 miles north of Detroit Lakes, MN.  Mahnomen Public School District is primarily a two-section school serving approximately 680 preschool-12th grade school students.
